During the summer, pollen levels are generally low to moderate in Eastern Oklahoma. The tree pollen season is over. In June and July, grass pollen is typically the dominant pollen in the atmosphere along with a few types of weed pollen. Since many individuals are sensitive to grass pollen, this can be a problem even though the concentrations are not high.
Starting in late August, weed pollen increases in the atmosphere and by the end of August, ragweed pollen is often abundant. In Tulsa, the peak of the ragweed season is usually the second week of September; however, ragweed pollen continues to be found in the atmosphere throughout the fall.
